🎭 Where Storytelling Meets Transformation
As seen on “Go” (CHEK TV) with the Victoria Film Festival
There’s nothing quite like seeing a character emerge from the dressing room—completely transformed. As a licensed esthetician with years of experience leading Special FX makeup workshops, I’ve never lost my awe for what a little latex, paint, and imagination can do.
My journey into special effects began long before I ever held a brush or prosthetic. I was the kid backstage, watching actors become something other—an old woman, a monster, a soldier, a ghost. It was magic. And now, I get to share that magic with young creators.
💥 Teaching the Story Behind the Injury
In my workshops—some of which have been featured on “Go” (CHEK TV) and at the Victoria Film Festival—we go beyond makeup tricks. We teach the why behind the wound.
Whether it’s a gory gash or a bruise that fades over time, we explore:
- The physiology of injuries
- The psychology of characters who carry them
- The continuity challenges of shooting scenes out of sequence
Through our JumpCuts youth programming, we helped kids not only create realistic wounds, but understand how those wounds serve the story—why they matter, how they evolve, and how to maintain visual consistency across takes.
👨🎨 Hands-On, Messy, and Meaningful
From burns and bites to aging makeup and alien transformations, our workshops give participants:
- A chance to get messy
- Learn professional techniques with safe, skin-friendly products
- Practice continuity logic used by industry artists
- Build confidence through behind-the-scenes skills
And every time a participant gasps at their reflection—or cackles in gory glee—I’m reminded why we do this.
✨ Real Skills, Real Fun
Our Special FX Makeup sessions are more than a craft. They’re a gateway into filmmaking, sparking curiosity about anatomy, narrative, and the subtle details that bring a story to life.
If you’re interested in a future session or private workshop, or want to bring this experience to your festival, school, or youth group…
